Dr. Bhavesh R Pokar

Dr. Bhavesh R Pokar is a Consulting Eye Surgeon in Thane, Maharashtra. He practises at the Roshni Eye Care and Microsurgical Centre and the Jupiter Hospital in Thane, as well as the Hira Mongi Hospital in Mulund. Besides completing his MBBS, Dr. Pokar has an MS and the Diploma in Ophthalmic Medicine and Surgery (DOMS) as his qualifications. He is also a Fellow of the College of Physicians and Surgeons (FCPS) and a Fellow of Arvind Eye Hospital (FAEH).

Dr. Bhavesh Pokar is familiar with all aspects of Ophthalmology including diagnostic procedures such as fundus photography, fundus fluorescein angiography, perimetry (eye field tests), HRT II (Heidelberg Retinal Tomogram), pachymetry, tonometry, green lasers - retina (diabetic retinopathy and vascular disorders), and YAG capsulotomy/excimer lasik lasers.

Dr. Pokar has considerable experience performing surgeries such as phacoemulsification (phaco) cataract surgery with foldable lenses, SICS (small incision cataract surgery), traumatic corneal surgery (anterior segment), pterygium surgery with/without autograft, and surgeries for traumatic lid, glaucoma and lid correction. He has also dealt with chalazion, wart excisions, eyelid abscess drainage procedures and squint surgeries, and intra-ocular foreign body removal with repair.

In addition to the above, Dr. Pokar has assisted in the following surgeries during his visits to the respective hospitals: Retinal detachment and ptosis surgeries (Sion Hospital); plastic surgery involving zygomatic arch, maxillary fractures (Jupiter Hospital); and, neurosurgery – pituitary gland tumours, SDH, EDH, Terson's Syndrome, etc. (Nair Hospital). He has also been involved in laser procedures connected to diabetic retinopathy and retinal vascular disorders at Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai in 2009 and was part of the Orbis Flying Eye Hospital in Mumbai in 2007.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Bhavesh Pokar was attached as Registrar at the Bhagwati Hospital in Borivali and the Pramukhswami Eye Hospital in Chunabhatti, Mumbai. He is also associated with the Vedant Superspeciality Hospital and the Lions Club of Thane. With more than eight years of practice in the medical profession he is a member of several medical associations and has participated in live surgery workshops, conferences and other meets organised by them.
